Andri Þór Sigurgeirsson

Chair

Andri was born in Iceland and grew up in Denmark between 1981 and 1996. He moved back to Iceland in 1996 and has lived here ever since. He holds a BSc in physiotherapy and later a master's degree in health sciences from the University of Iceland, and subsequently received specialist accreditation in neurological physiotherapy.

For some two decades he worked at a rehabilitation institution where, alongside clinical work, he took on research, teaching and management roles. After that he worked at a private physiotherapy clinic and later established and ran a physiotherapy clinic on behalf of a patients' association. For the past two years he has worked in public administration in the field of health as a specialist in health technology.

For twenty years Andri has taught part-time and supervised master's students at the University of Iceland. He and his family have long sponsored children in developing countries through their education, as he believes that education and knowledge are the foundation of success for individuals and societies alike. Andri met Maxwell Ditta in his younger years and has witnessed the steadfast work Maxwell has done over the years together with dedicated staff in Pakistan and the Philippines.

Maxwell Ditta

Treasurer and Director of Projects

In addition to his work for Nordic Children's Aid, Maxwell is the director of the schools and projects in Pakistan and the Philippines. He is originally from Pakistan and moved to Iceland with his family in 1998.

While working as an English teacher at Borgarholtsskóli he established the work in Pakistan and the Philippines, with an emphasis on building schools in poor communities to give children in need the chance of an education. The work in Pakistan began in 2005 and in the Philippines in 2007. The need was so great that within a few years many schools had been built and thousands of children enrolled.

Between 2008 and 2018 Maxwell lived with his family in the United States to establish Children's Aid USA, with the aim of helping still more children. Today, alongside running Children's Aid USA, Maxwell works full time on these projects with Nordic Children's Aid. Before moving to Iceland he served as a lecturer and academic department head at Pakistan Adventist College. He knows the value of education and believes it changes lives for the better.
